1) The 'GUH', or Great Unwashed Herd, is the term we use for the uninformed, undisciplined NFL bettor. They are the group that makes decisions based on emotion, history, TV Games, team loyalty, or any other basic human tendency which has nothing to do with the actual game. This makes them losers, because at the core, they are too lazy or too stupid to do the considerable work required to effectively handicap an NFL game. Therefore they are 'great', in terms of numbers, they are 'unwashed', because of their crude approach, and they are a 'herd', because they are essentially followers, and travel in large smelly groups.

Now the beauty of this is that we have devised a way to identify games where the GUH has jumped on one side of a game and driven the line way out of balance. I know that this happens because in my seven year career as an options trader, I saw the effects of mass psychology drive prices out of equilibrium on a daily basis.
